Unions
There are two major labor unions
active in the southeast region of Coahuila. The highly centralized CTM with
37,000 local members, and the CROC with 6,000 local members. Management-labor
relations in Coahuila, are characterized by cooperation rather than confrontation.
Two labor strikes were recorded in 1995 and two more in 1997, with no strikes
recorded since.
Political Influences
The current governor of Coahuila, Lic.
Enrique Martinez, is from the ruling PRI party. He is a well liked leader
who understands the importance of investments and industry to Coahuila.
