Las Cruces Public School District is the second
largest school district in New Mexico. It lies 45 miles north of the
Mexican border, encompassing the City of Las Cruces and covering the
middle third of Doņa Ana County. The district has thirty-four (34) schools:
- Twenty-three Elementary schools from kindergarten - 5 grade
- One elementary / middle school located at White Sands Missile
Range from kindergarten - 8 grade
- Seven middle schools from 6 - 8 grade
- Three high schools from 9 - 12 grade.
The district also has one training center for special
education students. Student enrollment is continuing to grow at a rapid pace.
Today enrollment stands at more than 23,000 students. Las Cruces Public Schools
is also the third largest employer in Doņa Ana County with more than 3,000 employees,
which includes 1,488 classroom teachers and educational assistants. For more
