El Paso has a approximately 40 parochial
and 90 private schools. There are several private schools that offer specialized
academic education as well as technical and mechanical education.
In 2007, the El Paso Country Day School
located on 109 Argonaut Drive, became the 2007 Texas Mathematics Champs.
Cathdral High School, a private parochial,
all-boys school, had the accomplishment for the 2006-2007 academic school year,
to have 82% of the junior class enrolled in at least one college credit course,
and 88% of the senior class to be enrolleded in at least two college credit courses.
Over the course of the years, the average Cathedral High School student graduated
with at least 30 hours of transferrable college credit. During the 2006-2007 academic
school year, Cathedral seniors amassed 2,238 college credit hours, almost three times
more than the largest public high school in El Paso County.
Loretto Academy High School had the following
accomplishments for 2006-2007 academic year: 100 % of the senior class applied for
college; 100 % of those
applicants were accepted by May 11, 2007; 86 % were accepted by colleges that were
their first or second choice; and among the schools accepting graduates of the
2007 Class were:
